Zeolite Fertilizer
Zeolite contains water-soluble minerals, particularly silica with a chemical structure of H4SiO4, which is highly beneficial for plants.
Nutrient Retention: Zeolite can adsorb fertilizers containing N, P, and K, reducing nutrient loss. Typically, chemical fertilizers sold in Thailand are designed to dissolve completely (100%). However, when there is heavy rainfall or frequent watering, the fertilizers dissolve quickly. Zeolite's ability to exchange positive ions helps retain fertilizers, including ammonium and potassium, transforming them into slow-release fertilizers.
Soil Conditioning: Zeolite's high porosity improves soil structure, making it loamy. It maintains the balance between water and air in the soil, enhancing soil health and reducing pesticide concentration in the soil.
Application Methods: Zeolite can be used as small spherical granules sprinkled into the soil before applying chemical fertilizers. Alternatively, some manufacturers enhance fertilizer formulations by incorporating powdered zeolite as an ingredient in chemical fertilizers.
